Adios 2010 .... Hello 2011 ...¡¡¡¡

Hi tod @ s since it is already ..... and was the last day of 2010, and now it's time to look back and see all he has given of the year in the sporting theme, the truth is that there has been a very good year in terms of participation in testing and training, as it has been months since I have not participated in any trial and have failed many .... many Trainings for different issues, health work, family ......
I have also had quite abandoned the canoe, and I've only gone to water in the summer months .... so yes, I SELLA fallen again in 2010 and also did a tour in K - 2 LORE by the river with SIL, very entertaining.
But for me the highlight of 2010 is the debut SPRINT triathlon and Olympic distance this year .... and 2011 to see if everything is going fairly well and I can do a HALF IRONMAN or DOUBLE OLYMPIC .... and other triathlons in May ......( more I run the "Aviam" )
in 2011 to see if I go back to get a good feeling running and let me train health (the last 2 weeks I had to stop the marathon training because of problems with right calf and then 5 days with fever, runny nose and headache.)
So as not going to get to Seville Marathon, I'm thinking about switching at Barcelona which is 3 weeks later ..... we'll see.
Villafranca Today I will go to running the San Silvestre BASURKANA ...... to see the year as it should ...... playing sports and in company many friend @ s "runners."

A model for analyzing industries where there are many competitors

No matter where I give lectures (Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Chile, etc.). Does not really matter who I give lessons (military, MBA students, entrepreneurs managers, etc.). usually nobody knows what are the groups strategic.

Actually, this is regrettable, since it is a useful concept to analyze an industry and its trends, especially when there are many competitors. So let's consider this issue in this article.

The strategic groups were the subject of the doctoral thesis of Hunt in 1972 and became popular thanks to the book 'Competitive Strategy', by Michael Porter.

Consider, then, that they are of the strategic groups :

The strategic groups are a number of companies in the same industry that follow similar strategies in some way (for example, companies multinational soft drinks follow similar strategies in relation to the distribution, as bottlers use, high price, high investment in advertising and product, usually have the same tastes and rootedness; the Tubaina by his side. also follow similar strategies).

But the benefit is that we can better understand what happens in the industrial sector, setting, etc.., When we focus only on strategic groups.

What are the advantages of working with strategic groups?

The strategic groups are a very easy concept to understand, at least in my experience with students, businessmen and managers. Moreover, they are very graphic, as it can make maps of strategic groups, in which it is clear the position of groups in una serie of strategic variables and where can evolve.

Another big advantage is that the maps, summed up a large amount of information, which makes it easier to understand the situation and the conclusions.

What are the disadvantages of the technique?

this article, Adrian Alvarez, Founding Partner of Midas Consulting, explains what the NAP, a methodology to evaluate the models that can be used in intelligence.

A NAP to help in the analysis

A key part of the intelligence cycle is the analysis because it is through it that are generated findings and recommendations to the decision to take the organization's management. Moreover, we can say that the analysis is the main contribution Intelligence area for the company's performance.

But which is a model?

A model is a simplification of reality to make it more understandable to the analyst and manager. By making it easier to understand the reality, the models allow the analyst to gain a better understanding of the competitive environment and thus provide implementable proposals that could grant the company a competitive advantage.

But all models are for everything? Or have to use models according to the situation, the company and industry?

The models are, as John Prescott, like clothes in a wardrobe, you have to use according to the occasion. No use going Speedo or thong for a gala dinner, and no good suit or dress to go along to the beach.

models therefore are useful if they meet a series of requirements and have strengths and weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages.

The secret is to know them to use them properly

But a model that I believe serves to evaluate the models that we can use is the NAP.

But what is the NAP? The NAP is an acronym developed by Midas, which summarizes :

S TATE business that is being analyzed : For example, Attack, Defense, stage in the life cycle, Situation. The business situation is extremely important because it gives a general framework for analysis.

And nfoque time: We are analyzing the time period for which the model is suitable, for example, Past, Present, or the Future?

S Implicate of Explanation and Presentation: The model is easier to understand has an advantage over any other, because it will facilitate the acceptance of the proposal and analysis, and implementation.

The NAP model, then, summarizes the level of adaptation of the model to the case we are analyzing.
